MYSTIC MAC RETURNS!
Conor McGregor returns to the octagon
is exactly what the sport needs.
He is the sport's most iconic figure and for him to headline the year in 2021 is epic!
Let's switch gears and take a look at his opponent who is none other than Dustin Poirier, in Conor McGregor’s absence he has held the Interim UFC Lightweight Championship, taken on several elite fighters like Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway, Dan Hooker, and not but not least Khabib Nurmagomedov to unify the titles. Dustin Poirier has developed his skill set in the last year. He is a different fighter than the first time he faced Conor McGregor.
The backstories between the 2 fighters are great. Conor McGregor coming back from an almost 1-year hiatus and Dustin Poirier staying super busy in the meantime. Let’s travel back in time to when they first met.
September 27, 2014
UFC 178 in MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The stadium was electric! The trash-talking and taunting had come to an end. Emotions ran deep, right up to when they met in the center of the octagon. Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor had a good exchange in the minute and a half of the first round. Conor McGregor landed his infamous left hand, Dustin Poirier was hurt. After that left hand, he could not recover, in Conor McGregor's fashion, he began taunting him. He landed another left that brought Dustin Poirier down to his knees and Conor McGregor proceeded to land several hammer fists to end the fight.
This upcoming weekend Saturday, January 23, 2021, marks the return of 2 prizefighters at UFC 257 on fight island in Abu Dhabi.
Questions will be answered in the octagon!
Will time off affect Conor McGregor? Has Dustin Poirier moved past his loss to Conor McGregor? Has Conor McGregor adjusted anything in his game? Will the new Dustin Poirier show up and stun the world with a knockout of Conor McGregor! We said it!
