The next TUF Coaches Usman and Masvidal?
Kamaru Usman's calling for rematch with Jorge Masvidal
In their last meeting Kamaru Usman defeated BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision. Masvidal took the fight on six days’ notice after fellow welterweight contender Gilbert Burns tested positive for COVID-19 and was removed from the card. Usman coming of successfully title defense against Burns at UFC 258 with a third-round TKO win. Usman has defeated the top welterweights in his division from Gilbert Burns, Jorge Masvidal, Colby Covington, Tyron Woodley, Rafael Dos Anjos, Demian Maia and more. Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare“ Usman the welterweight champion is there anyone who can defeat him, that is the big question.
What is next for the champion? Usman made it clear after UFC 258 that he is looking to rerun Jorge Masvidal, whom he defeated in a unanimous decision at UFC 251 this past July 2020. They apparently still have unfinished business with the “BMF” champion because of the circumstances surrounding that fight. Masvidal took the fight on only six days’ notice which has been saying if he had a full training camp the story would be different. Usman wants no excuses and the trash talking behind the scenes seems to be getting the best of him. Regardless of the circumstances, Usman won the fight but is more determined than ever to fight again and prove he is the superior fighter and this time around he will stop him.
The challenge has been made but Usman still is not convinced that a rematch with the “BMF” Jorge Masvidal will transpire. While Masvidal’s management team was already calling for the Usman fight after possibly serving as coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, the reigning welterweight champion is not so sure that is anything more than just rumor. As far as Usman's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, told ESPN that although there was no official deal to come out, the possibility of Usman and Masvidal coaching against one another on The Ultimate Fighter reality series before they fight was seriously discussed with Dana White.
The Ultimate Fighter on ESPN, the biggest platform in the world, that would be an event to watch. These are just rumors and nothing has been signed, of course this could be a nice touch and the build up would make it a must watch event, what do you think?
